My Journey

Nal's Kitchen is the culmination of my journey that began nearly 30 years ago as an international student in Boston, teaching myself how to cook out of necessity. From that humble beginning, I have come to relish cooking, finding pleasure in experimenting with ingredients and great joy in creating dishes that delight my family and friends. While I am mostly self-taught, I grew up watching my mom and grandma in India, who cooked every day. I observed how they used herbs and spices to dramatically enhance the flavor of everything they cooked.

Over the years, I became captivated by the unique aromas and tastes of various herbs & spices from around the world and incorporated them into my cooking. As my culinary skills evolved, my life changed from being single to a family of four. Eventually, like most families, we had to juggle multiple activities, making it difficult and time-consuming to cook wholesome, healthy dishes. At this point, I started making several items in large quantities from fresh ingredients, spices, and herbs for use over time. I found it was equally important that these sauces spreads, and dressings could be used in several ways to make daily meals easy to prepare. Through that process, I learned about multiple health-promoting benefits of ginger, tamarind, honey and other herbs and spices. These natural ingredients have antioxidants, as well as anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties that are aid disease prevention. These lessons convinced me to make food from 100% preservative-free, all-natural ingredients.

After my kids were college-bound, I started putting together my creations to bring joy and simplicity to other's cooking without sacrificing time, taste, and health. My most-loved favorites are the Ginger Spread and Honey Ginger Dressing. They are both rich in one of the world's healthiest spice, and one of my favorite ingredients: ginger. It is one of the few foods that has truly earned its “superfood” status. With the proof of a long history, ginger boasts powerful medicinal properties, and is rich in nutrients and bioactive compounds that have potent benefits for your body and brain. Another impressive ingredient in my products is the tamarind fruit. Along with a unique sweet and tangy taste, it has many health benefits. From protecting the liver, aiding weight loss, and reducing cardiovascular disease, the healthiest way to enjoy tamarind is to add to dishes.

The spread and the dressing are a staple for my family who love it with a variety of sandwiches and salads. I enjoy using them extensively in my daily cooking across many cuisines. They are perfect to stir fry, sauté, marinade, roast & grill or even to flavor curries, soups, stocks, and broths. They make it quick and easy for me to create wholesome and delicious meals for my family to enjoy.
