Nutrient Packed Chilled Salad

Salad packed with nutrients. Our Ginger Spread & Honey Ginger Dressing instantly amps up the flavor of the salad that be can served chilled or at room temperature. Can be made any day of the week or for enjoying good times with friends and family.

INGREDIENTS:

  • ¾ cup of quinoa, cook

  • 4 cups of shredded red cabbage

  • 4 cups of shredded green cabbage

  • 2 romaine hearts, chopped

  • 2 cups of shredded carrots

  • 4 small cucumbers, chopped

  • ½ medium size red onion, finely chopped

  • 9 oz shelled edamame, ready to eat

  • 1 ½ cups of green gram beans sprouts or shelled edamame

  • 8 oz seedless raisins

  • 7 oz pecan nuts, coarsely chopped

  • 2 jalapenos, chopped

  • 1 tsp salt, optional

  • 2 tbsp Nal’s Kitchen Ginger Spread

  • 8 to 10 tbsp of Nal’s Kitchen Honey Ginger Dressing

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cook quinoa as per instructions. Put aside to cool.

  2. Whisk Ginger Spread and Honey Ginger Dressing in a bowl.

  3. Place in a large bowl red cabbage, green cabbage, and romaine lettuce.

  4. Top with all the remaining ingredients as shown in the photo.

  5. Sprinkle salt, optional.

  6. Pour the whisked Ginger Spread & Honey Ginger Dressing on top.

  7. Mix well.

  8. Put aside for 15 minutes to an half hour to serve at room temperature.

  9. To serve chilled, place the salad in a refrigerable bowl for 2-12 hours.

  10. When serving add additional Honey Ginger Dressing, if needed.

  11. Enjoy the salad by itself. The chilled salad goes very well with sunny side or over easy eggs, cooked fish, or any choice of cooked meat.

Steps to make green gram beans sprouts

½ cup of green grams - wash. Then soak in 5 cups of water. keep covered in a dark area (example in the oven without turning it on) for 12 hours.

Rinse through a cheese cloth in the colander. Keep covered in the cheese cloth in the bowl. Place it back in the dark area for another 12-24 hours. The length of time varies based on the quality of the beans.

½ cup of green grams makes about 2 cups of sprouts. Refrigerate the sprouts in a container with lid and it will be good for few weeks.
